How to live together ? ALEBA meets ASTI during an evening of intercultural exchange

On Monday, May 16, 2022 Roberto MENDOLIA was the guest of the discussion and exchange evening Living Library: Remix Lëtzebuerger, how to live together, organized by the city of Esch-sur-Alzette and the Association de Soutien aux Travailleurs Immigrés, in collaboration with the National Museum of Resistance and Human Rights.

During this evening of exchanges propelled by the event Esch Capital of Culture 2022, Roberto MENDOLIA was able to lead a round table around which participants shared their vision of living together: “I am Belgian, of Sicilian origin, married to a Cypriot of Russian origin, I work for a German company and I am a Luxembourg resident! For me, living together is a matter of education,” says the president of ALEBA. “Success is in diversity, provided that there is respect.  Let’s educate our children to respect and otherness”.

Bruno Cavalleiro, municipal councilor of the city of Esch, is proud to represent a city where no less than 124 different communities live side by side: “We have to put aside our differences in order to privilege convergences, there is no miracle recipe, living together is lived on a daily basis through mutual aid and reciprocity”

Among the guests, Meriem Abaied in charge of the A.S.T.I. project underlines in turn: “living together is a question of survival”.

ALEBA thanks Sergio Ferreira for this warm evening where everyone left inspired by these different intercultural exchanges which will certainly allow ALEBA to understand more intimately the expectations of the workers of the Grand Duchy.
