International Equal Opportunities Day: ALEBA considers diversity as a strength in the workplace

Equal opportunities is not a concept. It is a global social issue. For this reason, ALEBA supports the International Day of Equal Opportunities, which is being held today, 5 December.

For us, as the leading trade union in the Luxembourg financial centre, equal opportunities is one of the ways to ensure the social well-being of employees, who are first and foremost citizens.   This concept, explained in the 1986 UN Declaration on the Right to Human Development, aims to promote a more equitable world.  Fighting against injustice and discrimination due to social distinctions, equal opportunities affect all areas of society (economic, legal, educational and religious).

As a humanist trade union that defends the rights of employees, ALEBA is convinced that diversity is a strength in a constantly changing world of work, which is currently being completely turned upside down by the Covid-19 crisis.  Every employee who works in the financial sector or who wants to, regardless of gender, age, nationality, disability, racial, ethnic or social origin, skin colour, sexual orientation, political, religious or philosophical views, has the right to a fair chance.

“ALEBA stands by those who are victims of discrimination,” says Roberto Mendolia, President of ALEBA, recalling that everyone should have access to training and economic and social promotion.
