On 8th March, ALEBA and the members of the Equal Opportunities Commission would like to wish every woman all the best for International Women’s Day 2018.

First officially recognised by the United Nations in 1977, the origin of International Women’s Day dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when women workers struggled to achieve improved working conditions and the right to vote. Celebrated on 8th March in Luxembourg and internationally, this day is a chance to assess progress made by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their country and their community.

In particular, we see social progress thanks to many political reforms, but unfortunately, some mentalities still need to change, and the struggle is far from being over.

ALEBA proposes precisely in its 2019 electoral program, under the themes “Work-Life Balance” and “Equality & Diversity”, measures that will lead to gender equality in companies.
